The Angriest Man

I watched the speech and Q&A that Jeremiah Wright gave at the National Press Club.

What we have to remember is that a lot of people in Wright's generation are still angry. They’re angry that they had to ride in the back of the bus. They are angry because they were denied their rights as Americans.  They’re angry that leaders like Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King we’re killed. They’re angry that their own people, like Detroit Mayor Colman Young, used and betrayed them for personal gain.

However, the angriest man in American today isn’t Jeremiah Wright. It’s a white guy named Sean Hannity. He’s angry at Ron Paul for trying to bring voters into the GOP who don't tow the party line on Iraq. He’s angry at Bob Barr for trying to expose the GOP for they really are – a bunch of authoritarians who are destroying our civil liberties and bankrupting the country with an unconstitutional war in Iraq. Most of all, Hannity is angry at himself for blindly trusting the government because it was lead by a Republican.  Now Bush has hung Hannity and every other “conservative” out to dry with his lies and deceit.

Instead of being man enough to admit that he was wrong about Bush's intentions, Hannity is lashing out at everyone who points out the real problems of the Bush administration. The lesson for Hannity is that we can never trust the government, regardless of who is in charge of it. Unfortunately, it’s a lesson that Hannity just isn't smart enough to learn.
